Burglary control panels for residential use

A security system starts with a control panel. Usually located in a closet or a basement, the control panel contains the “intelligence” of the security system, and essentially operates as a central computer.

Various sensors connect to the control panel from locations throughout the home. If the security system is armed and the sensors detect a problem, they send signals to the control panel. The control panel automatically dials the central monitoring station, where the proper authorities are notified.

Generally located at entry doors, keypads can arm and disarm with push-button ease. Desirable features include illuminated keys for greater visibility at night; easy-to-read text displays that indicate the status of the system at a glance; one-touch function keys that provide single-button operation for arming, disarming or emergencies; and high-tech touch-screen keypads with improved visibility and easy operation.

Door/Window sensors

Door and window sensors consist of magnetic contacts that are two-part devices. One part of the contact is a switch installed in the window or door jam; the other contains a magnet and is placed in the window or door itself. Any noticeable shift in contact with the switch results in an alarm. There are also special infrared beams that are used for gate protection and other sensitive places. These beams consist of two mounted boards that will indicate an individual trying to cross between them; but for added protection, these boards continuously transmit a grid of beams that are impossible to cross.

Passive Infrared Motion Detector (PIR)

A passive infrared motion detector (PIR) is an electronic security device that detects intruders by sensing motion or body heat in the area being protected. There are many kinds of PIRs, including models for wall mounting, ceiling mounting, out door use and special shapes that are less visible, such as the shape of a smoke detector.

Wireless devices

Technological advances and breakthroughs have led to the development of wireless electronic security products, whose effectiveness has been proven time and again over years in millions of installations. Their rock-solid stability and long battery life make them a popular choice among homeowners and businesses alike. They give installers the flexibility they need to overcome obstacles like brick walls, cement floors and cathedral ceilings; and the absence of drilling holes preserves the integrity of the space and results in cleaner and faster installations.

Consumers enjoy the convenience of remote control devices, User-friendly wireless products provide dual benefits of superior performance and ease of operation. Wireless keypads allow activation and de-activation of the security system with the touch of a button.

Controlling the security system through a phone

Another hot item gaining popularity is the interactive phone module.

By adding the phone module to your business and home security system, you can have remote control access from any touch-tone or cellular phone, or from your office, on the road, or anywhere in the world!  You can conveniently handle many functions:  arm, disarm or check the status of your system, turn your lights on or off and/or control your thermostat and air conditioner.
